We are not interested in being vague about what we believe. What follows is the doctrinal foundation of Shanah City Church, expressed as simply as we can manage. If any of it raises a question, please ask.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God — the final authority for what we believe and how we live. It is not merely a book about God; it is God speaking, and it is sufficient for every question of faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16–17
We believe in one eternal God, existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Equal in nature, distinct in person, united in purpose — and personally knowable.
Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man; that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitute for our sin, rose bodily from the grave on the third day, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
John 1:1–14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received by faith in Jesus Christ alone — never earned by good works, religious effort or family background. Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–13
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, producing the fruit of Christ-like character and distributing spiritual gifts for the building up of the church. We welcome His work among us and believe the gifts of the Spirit are for the church today.
Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12–14; Galatians 5:22–23
We believe the church is the body of Christ — not a building but a people. Every believer is called to belong to a local church, to be committed to it, and to serve within it using the gifts God has given them.
1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Hebrews 10:24–25
We believe water baptism by full immersion is the outward declaration of an inward decision — a public statement that the old life is buried and a new life in Christ has begun. It follows salvation; it does not produce it.
Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3–4
We believe communion is a remembrance of the body and blood of Jesus, given for us. We share it regularly, and the table is open to every believer in Jesus Christ regardless of church background.
1 Corinthians 11:23–26
We believe God hears and answers prayer, and that He still heals today. We pray for the sick expectantly, we trust God with the outcome, and we walk with people faithfully whatever that outcome is.
James 5:14–16
We believe Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to judge the living and the dead and to establish His eternal kingdom. This hope shapes how we live, how we give, and how urgently we share the gospel.
Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
